Stoma Care

The Stoma Care course provides the skills and knowledge to an individual who is required to change and dispose of stoma bags, maintain stoma hygiene, and monitor the health of people with stomas, which can be part of a general support worker role.

Unit Being Delivered

A Statement of Completion will be awarded to successful participants in Stoma Care. This is a non-accredited course and will not be considered for nationally recognised qualifications.

ASSESSMENT REQUIREMENTS

Individuals undertaking this course will be expected to complete both written and practical assessment tasks. These are detailed in the sections following.

ASSESSMENT ACTIVITIES

Assessments conducted during face-to-face training session(s) include:

Performance tasks – Changing a one-piece ostomy bag.

Theory assessment – A written assessment consisting of case studies, multiple-choice questions.
